Mara L Flynn is an artist and writer living and working in Arlington, Va. Formerly a legal writer in Washington, DC, she took up painting to bring creativity and tranquility to her otherwise hectic life. As someone who delights in all things nature, she primarily paints landscapes, seascapes, and flowers using colors that reflect the natural world. Mara also enjoys exploring color theory and balance to create intriguing new color combinations that both evoke feelings and memories and explore new experiences. Her abstract pieces are often whimsical and brightly colored while her landscapes and seascapes are more realistic, meditative compositions. In addition to nature, she draws inspiration from the color field paintings of Rothko and the brightness and boldness of Van Gogh.
