I enjoy painting a range of subjects including pets, homes, landscapes, seascapes, and flowers. The variety of my work expresses what brings me joy. I try to infuse each painting with a sense of warmth and wonder.

With pet portraits, I study each animal and discuss with the client the different aspects of the animal's personality; some dogs are strong, some happy-go-lucky, some dignified, some goofy, and some are just plain charming. I try and interpret those aspects on the canvas.

With the home portraits, I endeavor to infuse each home with life. I steer away from straightforward architectural renderings of a house that may be accurate but give no sense of the family and warmth within. Often my home portraits include children, dogs, or objects that define each home at a moment in time.

I have always been fascinated by sunlight streaming through a window, and how that light can transform and define an object. My final BFA portfolio included many variations on this theme. That fascination remains with me, all these years later.
