Morgan Johnson Norwood
I am interested in the intertwined connection humans share with our natural environment. As an artist, my personal narrative of childhood, motherhood, trauma, and rebirth is told through the roots, bones, tree branches, stones, cells, sinews, and shadows seen in my images. I enjoy using layers of color and washes of paint. My intention for the ultimate work of art is that it both catches the eye and calms the spirit. I create oil paintings primarily on canvas, and in a variety of sizes. I hold a BFA in studio art and art education from the University of Georgia, and an MAT in museum education from the George Washington University, and have lived in the DC area for over 15 years. As an elementary art teacher here in Arlington, my greatest joy is helping students achieve the skills to share their own artistic vision. Please be sure to inquire about purchases, commissions, and private instruction. I am currently accepting private and commercial commissions.
