I use an X-Acto knife to hand-cut my original-design papercuttings from single sheets of paper, most of which is dark black. I then attach the cuttings to white, off-white, or other contrasting backgrounds such as sheet music, old maps, or ledger sheets. I’ll also occasionally incorporate vintage elements like postage stamps, seeds packets, or board game pieces to add color to a piece. My designs are eclectic and range from more traditional works to humorous contemporary pieces to elaborate alphabets depicting culinary, floral, musical, or marine subjects. All are matted; most are framed.
