Maria Illingworth delayed making art her profession until she had retired from the Navy and worked for several years for the Veteran’s Administration as a Social Worker on their psychiatric ward. She strongly believes that everything we do, informs everything we do. Her experiences have shown her that everyone and everything has value. In this spirit she up-cycles vintage windows, frames, scrap glass, and found objects. She wants to show people that items that were once discarded as having little value can be beautiful. Maria works in glass-on-glass mosaic which is a process that allows for the full appreciation of the glass. She is a resident artist at Palette 22, and sells her work at Sun and Moon Yoga Studio in Arlington as well as various galleries in the DC Metro Area.
